چکیده

The hysteresis that occurs during superelasticity caused by the stress-induced first-order martensite transformation is sometimes detrimental to properties of superelastic materials. In this paper, first-principles calculations are performed systematically investigate effects chemical composition and crystal disorder on Ni50-xCoxM25Ga25 (M = Mn, Fe) Heusler alloys. Calculations stress-strain relation in studied alloys reproduce recent experimental findings for nonhysteretic within an acceptable range ordering. Martensitic Transformation in Ni-Mn-Sn-Co Heusler Alloys

Thermal and structural austenite to martensite reversible transition was studied in melt spun ribbons of Ni50Mn40Sn5Co5, Ni50Mn37.5Sn7.5Co5 and Ni50Mn35Sn10Co5 (at. %) alloys. Analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns confirms that all alloys have martensitic structure at room temperature: four layered orthorhombic 4O for Ni50Mn40Sn5Co5, four layered orthorhombic 4O and seven-layered monoclinic 14...

ANISOTROPIC SUPERELASTICITY OF TEXTURED Ti-Ni SHEET

A recently developed crystal-mechanics-based constitutive model for polycrystalline shape-memory alloys (Thamburaja and Anand [1]) is shown to quantitatively predict the in-plane anisotropy of superelastic sheet Ti-Ni to reasonable accord. Keywords— Phase transformations, Constitutive equations, Finite-elements, Mechanical testing.

Lattice dynamics and phonon softening in Ni-Mn-Al Heusler alloys

Inelastic and elastic neutron scattering have been used to study a single crystal of the Ni54Mn23Al23 Heusler alloy over a broad temperature range. The paper reports the experimental determination of the low-lying phonon dispersion curves for this alloy system. We find that the frequencies of the TA2 modes are relatively low. This branch exhibits an anomaly (dip) at a wave numberξ0=1∕3≈0.33, wh...

Large Inverse Magnetocaloric Effects and Giant Magnetoresistance in Ni-Mn-Cr-Sn Heusler Alloys

The magnetostructural transitions, magnetocaloric effects, and magnetoresistance properties of Ni45Mn43CrSn11 Heusler alloys were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-dependent magnetization, and electrical resistivity measurements. A large inverse and direct magnetocaloric effect has been observed in Ni45Mn43CrSn11 across the martensitic and Curie transition temperature, respectiv...

Magnetic superelasticity and inverse magnetocaloric effect in Ni-Mn-In

Applying a magnetic field to a ferromagnetic Ni50Mn34In16 alloy in the martensitic state induces a structural phase transition to the austenitic state. This is accompanied by a strain which recovers on removing the magnetic field, giving the system a magnetically superelastic character. A further property of this alloy is that it also shows the inverse magnetocaloric effect. The magnetic supere...
